NZ Customs to provide Educational Experience at the Festival

Marking 170 years of Customs protecting New Zealand’s borders, this year’s International Customs Day coincides with the Auckland Seafood Festival being held on Auckland Anniversary weekend.  As part of recognising partnerships between Customs and business, Customs will have displays including interesting, lively, and educational activities for the whole family.

The New Zealand Customs Service is a strong supporter of the Stellar Trust and what it stands for in the community.

Activities will include;

- tours of the Customs Patrol vessel Hawk (Sun & Mon only)

- focus on counterfeit goods including how to tell the real from the fake

- unusual plants and animals that smugglers attempt to trade illegally

- detector dog demonstrations (on at the Give It A Go Stage)

- x-ray machine displays

- weapons seized at the border

- methods drug smugglers use in attempt to outwit border security.
